DPD were formed in the UK in 1970 as Courier Express. In 1984 it changed its name to Parceline when it was sold to Mayne Nickless of Australia and by 1995 1 billion parcels had already been delivered. La Poste bought the company in 2000 and it became known as DPD in the UK in 2008. Since the purchase by La Poste there has been significant investment in DPD’s infrastructure and in 2008 a new 27 acre superhub was opened at Oldbury in the West Midlands.

Today DPD ship over 2 million parcels each day and have 500 depots in 40 countries.

DPD wins 'Innovation in Delivery' award
DPD has won it's eighth industry award of 2010. For the 2nd year in succession it has won the ‘Innovation in Delivery’ category of the E Commerce Awards for Excellence.

Judges were impressed by DPD’s Predict service which gives home shoppers a time window in which their parcel will arrive and felt that the company are setting a new bench mark in the marketplace whilst continually innovating.

DPD builds new hub in Holland
DPD has announced that it will be building a new hub in the Netherlands and that it will be operational by May 2011.

The new hub will meet the increased capacity needs generated by continuous growth and will support needs into the future.
